I know it looks like I'm everywhere... My 15 yo daughter was dx'ed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome two years ago April Fool's Day. What a joke, huh?? Anywho...she's done well off Atenolol for several months now, but in May, her cardio sent us to Boston Children's to consult with a surgeon re ablation. He suggested we have her have it done, as she has a slight but gradually-increasing risk of a "serious cardiac event" over time without it. Have any of you been through this procedure, or have a child who has? I understand it's outpatient and fairly benign, but I appreciate any info. We're considering having it next summer, when she has plenty of time off school and we have the $$ in the Flexible Spending Acct. She seems to think it's unnecessary, but she's a kid. TIA for any input! LIZARD

Hi, all. I'm usually on the site for epilepsy, but since I have a heart murmur and arrythmia, I thought I'd check out this post as well. I'm 24 years-old, so talking about heart problems seems a little odd, but I've been dealing with it my whole life, so now seems as good a time as any to start sharing my heart. Pun intended. I've never taken meds for it, but need to get in to see a cardiologist again soon, as new problems keep rising up. I don't know of anyone else my age who's worried about having a heart attack, so if there are other young people reading this, I would love to hear your story. There is nothing worse than feeling alone.
