Walmart Pharmacys are going to be charging $4.00 for each generic perscription.
Sounds to good to be true, waiting for it to start in Oregon. To see what I am going to save.

Riva,
I get my meds from Wal Mart too and the dispensing fee has gone up in Canada as well.
Not to rub it in BUT together with my Provincial Health Insurance and my employment Health Insurance, it has gone up from $00-00 to $0.47 per script.

Riva, Yeah, most Canadians have free health care but I sometimes wonder about the quality of health care b/c so many of our Doctors are trained in Canada and then move to the states for the big $$$ and we get stuck with the left overs.

I know how you feel,my gynecologist who I was with from the time he opened his office in Montreal left in the 90's when they were closing down the hospitals . He was the top gyn in Montreal and he packed up and left. The nueros stayed at MNI and Notra Dame . You have to make the best of things ,Americans think Canadians have it made because of the socialized medicine and lower costs for drugs. Their are trade offs everywhere.

I used to go to a Canadian doctor to get my Dilantin prescription refilled and found the service to be very good. It's been a few years but at that time I was paying $60 for a dr. visit in America and $20 for a visit in Canada. The medication was less than 1/3 what it cost in the US.
I know the Canadian system has its faults but at least it is accessable for all. Rationed care has been a big concern in the Canadian sytem but rationing medical care is a much bigger problem in America. In America if you don't have the $$, care is minimal and hard to get. I'll take the Canadian system anyday.

I guess theirs two sides to every story. I wasn't happy with my nueros in Montreal, but he gyno and dermatologist were great.
The meds did cost less but the Montreal Drs didn't believe in vitamins, and they had such a negative view of pple with epilepsy it was disheartening.
Having access to all the Drs in your province is a plus. Which Americians need to address one day. It is definalty better than having absolutly no medical care.
I turned to alternative medical care and it has been the best decision I have ever made.
