I read this with my boyfriend, and now I'm even more confused. It seems there are hardly any of these that I haven't had at one point or another. I know two parts of my brain are affected, but is it normal to experience so many kinds? Maybe that's why I haven't been able to find a med that works. . .

Heidihope, Have you ever heard of a "thingytail" of drugs? It may be that you need a combination of drugs in order to best control your seizures. I was on a single drug, keppra, to control my TC seizures; however, when I started having breakthrough partials, my neuro had me add lyrica. The combination worked quite well for a long time in controlling my head's spazzing. Makes sense to me that if you are having many different kinds of seizures that you would maybe need a combination of AEDs to help control them.
Good luck!

Ummmmm, I responded to Heidihope but my post was moved here and somehow reworded. "Thingytail" should be "thingytail"...... I can't edit the above since I didn't move it! Edited to add: ah, there must be some auto-editting mechanism that thinks I am typing a Bad Word. I'm not Anyway, you can hopefully guess what I meant! Edited more to add: You know, the name of the movie Tom Cruise was in a long time ago having to do with a bar and mixing drinks? Get it, yet?!

Hi footprints ~ Most likely the first word/part in the movie title C**ktail is a censored word. The word is considered a part of the male anatomy therefore it is called a "Thingy" Shirl ;D

OMG!!! I thought I was going nuts! I was staring at the computer where you wrote "thingytail" is actually supposed to be "thingytail", and I was checking them letter by letter to see how it was supposed to make sense. i almost had to switch from the chair to the floor, I started laughing so hard! On the serious side, I've tried the "thingytail" thingy (I couldn't resist, I'm not very serious), but haven't yet figured out what to try or how much, b/c I've responded so poorly to so many meds on their own, let alone mixing them. I've got another appt. with my reg doc today, b/c the side effects from the Dilantin are really starting to make me worry. I've been exhausted all week, passing out really easy (good thing my boyfriend's big and strong), and my heart keeps going nuts, pounding too hard, with the rate going up and down so quick it has me doubled over and barely able to move. At this point I'm wary of trying anything, but the tonic-clonic seizures on their own are too much for my heart to handle. it lolliepops being a freak of science. i think I'll ask about Tegretol, b/c so many people in the forums seem to have really good luck with it. So far I've tried Dilantin, Lamictal, Keppra, Depakote, and Gabitril. They've worked great as diet pills, not so effective on relieving seizures. . .
