I have suffered from migraines in combination with a seizure disorder since early childhood. Currently, I am taking Neurontin, and anti-ep medication that is supposed to assist with the migraines. I personally find that it makes me very "groggy" most of the day, and am going to request something else.
My migraines tend to be an all-over dull to extreme ache, usually beginning in the frontal/temporal region and then spreading to the back of my head. I also get "streaking" pains that run from around my eyebrows to the base of my neck. These pains can last anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes and take several minutes to completely fade. This pain is crippling. I lose some motor control, and have difficulty speaking when this happens. I often feel as if I may fall over, and have before. This often happens with sensitivity to light, but not always. I believe that this is related to my seizure disorder as well, although no direct connection has been established.
Please share your stories. I would love to hear what has worked and what hasn't worked for you.
Thanks, Britt
