Hi Randy : I think its the meds I had the same problem with tegretol and mysoline, when I was weaned of the tegretol I improved. But my balance was still horrible thanks to the mysoline.

I had the same side effects from tegretol, which I was on as a child, and even now I have problems remembering things. I will often ask the same questions multiple times, within minutes. It may be the meds, but part of me wants to think its just that our brains like to "reset" too much.

Hey Randy darlin - I started to notice memory issues when I was taking Dilantin. As you know, I was only on that for about 4 months and came off. I still have moments now, a year later off any meds, where I can't quite remember things, or it takes me a minute to process something. This can be very very tiring.
For instance... I've never really been book smart. I'm much more creative side brained. But, I wasn't stupid either. I had a decent vocabulary and could carry on a conversation. Now most of the time I'm lucky just to follow everything. A dear, dear friend of mine is always picking on me because his vocabulary is huge, and when I don't know a word, we make the joke about going to Google it and find out what it means. It's fun and it keeps my brain working. I try really hard to not let myself slip into a hole, and so far it's working.
So, I think that meds definately play a number on our brains, but I also think auras and seizures themselves can mess us up too. I've seen this in myself. It's not fun, but hang in there.

I know this is strange I was in absence status, and my memory returned after acupuncture treatment. My memory has always been very detailed. My vocubulary is not large like my brothers ,friends or husband. But I understand what they say and I am avid reader. I love reading. This year it was tough because reading is hard when you have walking pneumonia. I miss reading more than swimming. I guess I am the contradiction to the norm . I have trouble with spelling thou.
