My manual dexterity in my hands and fingers is very poor as a result of the long term use of meds, IE: if I'm in a chat room, by the time I type my statement-everybody is on the next subject and I find it really hard to keep up. That's odd because I had a computer at my desk at work for several years. I had to give up my music teaching 26yrs ago as a result of my poor dexterity and coordination, but my seizures are under control. It's a HUGE tradeoff. Does anyone else have this prob?? BTW it took me 9 mins to type this. diagnosed with epilepsy and Ulcerative Colitis in 1979 - current meds are: Randy 275mg dilantin/day 120mg pheonobarb/day

Randy - My hands shake like crazy. It's very annoying. I notice it more when I'm really tired or panicky for the day. Mine's not med related cause I'm not taking anything. Shaky hands normally mean an aura is on it's way for me as well.

Randy I only had problems with my shaking when the Drs in Montreal put me back on tegretol too soon (my body needed a rest) and my hands jerked and shook. Once I lowered the med the jerks and shaking stopped. To be honest Randy it sounds like the meds are slowly hurting your body. I have asked you before , I will ask you again Have you ever considered alternative medicine to help with your side effects? fourstar

Fourstar, My Doctor and I have researched this problem and since I also take meds for my Colitis, it turns out that dilantin is the only anti-convulsant that won't have a negative reaction to those meds. Trying to keep both conditions in check is a real balancing act. If I were to change medication for my EP, I could have an Ulcerative Colitis flare up. Randy

Randy if I would were you I would talk to an accupuncturist or a homepathy Dr about their opionions on that . Canadian Drs are the mostr conservative Drs I have ever met. Your epilpetoligist is not a specialist in accupuncture or homepathy. Nor does he work with either one, so how can he say that? When he doesn't know? Their approach to the medical problems are so opposite. I started with accupunture in 1979 when I got butchered at the MNI (MOntreal Nuerological Institute) . As I improved the nuero their just got crazier by the month. It wasn;t his doing. Was some weirdo accupuncturist. Not him who was doing it. I was afarid of homeopathy, I waited till I had no options left 2006. That same Dr put me in absence status and my memory came back. Because as soon as I got out of the hospital I went for accupuncture treatment . In Braintalk no one could understnad why my memory came back. I am sorry I am not pressuring you to make my decisions. I am just trying to show you ,he can't talk for them. Riva
